BLUE MOUNTAIN SCHOOL HOLDS 17TH ANNUAL
FINE ARTS, CRAFTS, AND SERVICES AUCTION

Evening of Fine Art, Fine Food, and Fine Music to Benefit School

September 29, 2005, Floyd, VA – Blue Mountain School (BMS) will celebrate its 17th Annual Fine Art, Crafts, and Services Auction on Saturday, November 12, 2005 at 5:00 p.m. It has been 17 years since its inception and the Auction remains the key fundraising event for BMS. Monies raised support the school’s Arts and Music programs, its scholarship fund and community outreach programs, and operating expenses not covered by tuition.
 
The event will be held at the Jacksonville Center located at 220 Parkway Lane South, ¼ mile south of the stoplight on route 8 in Floyd. The Auction will include works donated by local and national artists representing a wide range of genres, styles, and mediums. Featured artists include 16 Hands woodworker Brad Warstler , and potters Donna Polseno and Silvie Granatelli; jewelry designer Maureen Hearn, potter Jayn Avery; painters Rosemary Wyman, Jennifer Collins, and Deborah Wildman; lighting designer Susan Icove; quilter Glenda George; and hand-blown glass artist Eli Schwartz. In addition, artist Linda Bostick-Smith’s limited edition print of Frank Beamer, signed by the artist and coach, will be a part of the live auction. Many local businesses will donate goods and services as well including Winter Sun, Oddfella’s Cantina, the June Bug Center, and New Mountain Mercantile.
 
The evening will start at 5:00 p.m. with a Silent Auction and Artists’ Reception featuring an elegant light supper catered by Oddfella’s Cantina, with live jazz from the Chris Prokosch Trio. The live auction will begin at 7:00 p.m. Auction items may be previewed on the web at www.bluemountainschool.net. The Blue Mountain School has been operating as the alternative education center in Floyd for 24 years. BMS is a nonprofit parent-cooperative, dedicated to providing an enriching, holistic education for children from pre-school through middle school. Our mission is to foster a love of learning and respect for family, community, and nature as teachers and partners in the learning process. We encourage the exchange of ideas between the school, the local community, and the world community.
