Karen Sewell
Karen grew up in the mountains of southwest Virginia. As a child she would fill sketchbooks with drawings of birds and animals and the small dramas being played out in nature all around her. She also loved to listen to her elders relate the stories of their childhoods. She now paints subjects that touch on her experiences and memories. Says Karen, "I feel that the past intermingles with the present and influences our future. My inspiration comes from observing the small vignettes of everyday life. These stories are nostalgic reminders of where we came from and hints of where we are going."
