Linda Bostic Smith

Linda's Art Studio

A love of painting and drawing of many different subjects has always been important to Linda Bostic Smith. With each medium, whether it be charcoal, pastels, acrylics, or oils, Linda is driven by specific challenges allowing her to express herself in different ways. Without reading her signature, one might be convinced that these works were done by separate individuals. Through light and shadows she brings forth the soul and the personalities of the characters or persons behind the faces. She enjoys the challenge of working in black and learning how she can pull light out of the darkness. Linda became a professional in 1986 with the tutoring and training from such generous and outstanding artists as Heinz Huber, Antoinia Acock, Louise Davis, Barbara Capps, and Nadine Allen.

More about Linda's work, "Coach"
My likeness of Frank Beamer came to be in existence out of the love of one very special, beautiful lady. Lucky for me all this Hokie inspiring enthusiasm came from my aunt, Eunice Smith Arrington. It all started in the fall of 1999. Eunice had a deep love for her family and wanted a special Christmas gift for her nephew and his wife, C.W. "Pete" and Miyono Umholtz, who live in Hawaii. Upon completion of the project, her response was one of surprise and elation. She immediately suggested I draw a portrait of the coach of her beloved Hokies. With her devoted love, Eunice taught me how to enjoy the game of football and educated me on many of the aspects of the rules and regulations. This portrait is dedicated to the loving memory of my wonderful Aunt and best friend, Eunice Arrington. She will always be in my heart.
