Local Gifts 2011

posted Oct 29, 2011 2:35 PM by Jamie Reygle
Blue Mountain School's annual Local Gifts fundraiser reflects the school's commitment to our community.

By encouraging people to spend their money locally, we are helping to ensure that Floyd continues to thrive, primarily off its own steam. The more we keep our own money circulating through our own community, the healthier our economy is.

Meanwhile, the environment gets to breathe a breath of fresh air, as we minimize our dependence on fossil fuels, and our consciences can be a little cleaner knowing we are a little less responsible for the exploitation of our fellow human beings in less fortunate places.

Best of all, in these difficult economic times, we can know we are supporting the small businesses that are so critical for the continued vitality of our national economy.

The local businesses listed below have each given us a donation, and we are glad to provide:

·Free childcare for any families who wish to shop in Floyd while their kids play, on Saturdays November 19th and 26th, from 10am to 5pm;

·Childcare on Black Friday, November 25th; and

·A host of prizes for people who shop at these businesses, including:

·   A ticket to FloydFest in 2012;

·   Two $50 gift certificates for Creative Edge Nail Studio;

·   Two lunches or dinners for two at the Historic Pine Tavern;

·   A $40 credit for any cooking class at Natasha's Market Cafe;

·   Five pairs of regular 6" sandwiches at Subway;

·   Two Friday Night Buffets at Ray's Rest;

·   A $20 gift certificate for a haircut & style at Styles 4 U!; and

·   A $15 gift certificate for El Charro Grill Mexican Restaurant.

To win prizes, just shop at these participating businesses from November 18 to 27, and they will add a sticker to your punch card every time you make a purchase. You can pick up a punch card from the school or any of our Premium Supporters, or download one.

We are seeing this fundraiser grow into a tradition that mutually helps local businesses, families, and our school. We would love to invite your family to be part of this event as well.
