Forest Kindergarten

Our Forest Kindergarten provides young children with the opportunity to explore and engage with the outdoors and with others. Following a play-based, emergent learning approach, we strive to give our students a predictable rhythm that allows them to be comfortable and empowered with enough flexibility to pursue individual interests.
Based on the German model of Waldkindergartens, the BMS Forest Kindergarten students spend the entire morning outdoors in all types of weather.
This program is for children ages 3 to 7 years old and is led by Jenni Heartway and Tammie Sarver.

Our Typical Daily Rhythm
9:00-9:20: Arrival and Settling In-Students arrive and engage in small group activities.
9:20-9:40: Morning Circle- Songs, instruments, plans for the day.
9:40-9:50: Bathroom and Packing Up
9:50-11:45: Hike, Snack and Activities on the Trail
11:45: Closing Circle and Goodbyes
